EMINENT VISITOR
BISHOP OF LICHFIELD (P.A.) AUCKLAND, Dec. 18. The Bishop of Lichfield, England, the Rt Rev. Dr. E. S. Woods, has arrived from Australia on an official visit to the Anglican Church in New Zealand at the behest of the Archbishop of Canterbury, the Most Rev. G. F. Fisher. Accompanied by Mrs. Woods he will be in the Dominion for about a month. They left for Waikato yesterday, continuing to Wellington by train later in the dav to be the guests of the Gover-nor-General, Sir Bernard Freyberg, at Government House. From Wellington they go to Christchurch to see the primate, Archbishop West Watson. Dr. Woods said he represented the Archbishop of Canterbury at the centennial celebrations of the three Australian dioceses of Adelaide. Newcastle and Melbourne. The Archbishop had asked him to come on to New Zealand to confer with Archbishop West Watson on various matters affecting the work of the church in the Dominion. He and the Primate had been students together at Cambridge University and were old friends.
