INVITATION DECLINED

VISIT TO MELBOURNE DISTANCE CHAMPION (P.A.) DUNEDIN, Dec 17. Harold Nelson, Otago and New Zealand one-mile and three-mile running champion, has declined the preliminary invitation to compete in the Australian amateur athletic championships on January 24 and 26'" in Melbourne Mr. B. R. McKernan, Nelson’s coach, said that Nelson had received a telegram from the New Zealand Athletic Council asking him if he would be available to compete at the Australian championships. Because the trip to Australia would upset his preparations for the New Zealand championships, he had informed the council that he would be unable to compete.
