JAP. ADMIRAL TO HANG

MURDER OF AUSTRALIANS (10 a.m.) HONG KONG, Dec. 17. Rear Admiral Tamura Ryukichi was sentenced to death by hanging today by the Australian war crimes court for complicity in' the massacres of 23 Australian civilian internees at Kavieng, New Ireland, in March, 1944. Tamura received the sentence with a salute. Five other Japanese officers received sentences ranging from four to 20 years' imprisonment.
