CALLING ALL CHILDREN JOIN THE G.I. ARMY!
THIS IS ACTION PLAN No. 1
Attention, boys and girls! We have great news for you. General Gerrachascr has arrived in Gisborne and is calling for volunteers to join the great Army of Gisborne Invincibles (G.l.’s) to fight the evil Giant Polio.
His lull name is a real tongue twister, Poliomyelitis, but we will call him Polio. There is no doubt that he has won the first round of the battle. He has caused all boys and girls to have to stay in their own yards. He is laughing at 'the way he has stopped you from parties, pictures, and lots mor fun. He doesn’t like to see you having fun and games. ’
But General Germchaser and his staff have a plan to conquer the giant’s nasty little band of germs and chase away Boredom and Gloom until finally Giant Polio and his band are well and truly defeated and boys and girls are free to do those things they like so much and which Giant Polio has stopped for the present.
If you join the happy G.l.’s who are already in our Army, happiness and contentment will be found within the environs of your own home and garden. Together we shall meet Giants Polio, Boredom and Gloom on our own grounds, through our competitions, games and contests. We shall win this battle Are you with us ??? . . Our G.I. Headquarters are situated in the Youth Department of the Y.M.C.A. It is a hive of activity. We have been thrilled by the numbers who are rallying to our cause. The first big event in this campaign is the special announcement of the
VISIT OF SANTA CLAUS. He is very anxious to see all the boys and girls of Gisborne and has graciously consented to visit your street in person. What a day to look forward to. You won’t need to leave your own garden to see Santa when he pays his visit. Be ready to give him a great welcome. LETTERS ADDRESSED, TO SANTA will be collected, by his attendants as he passes along your street. Have them ready for him with your name and address on the back of the envelope. Get Mother. Dad, or some grown up in your home to help you write out the letter NOW
G.I. RADIO SESSION 2 Z.J. Opening session Thursday evening, 7 p.m. Listen in for all the latest G.I. action plans and details also about Santa's visit to your street.
INTER-DISTRICT COMPETITIONS, for games arts and crafts, hobbies, etc., will be run by G.I. Headquarters. For this purpose Gisborne is being divided into districts. For instance, if you live in Kaiti, your points will count for Kaiti, and so on. Points will be scored by the number of entries-in each section averaged by comparison with the number of children in the district. Thus the more entries from your district the greater the chance of winning.
