TEMPORARY BAN

ACTION NATIONALISING BANKS BANKS AND STATES’ MOVE (N.Z.P.A.—Reuter— Copyright.) (10 a.m.) SYDNEY, Dec. 16. A temporary injunction restraining the Commonwealth from proceeding with the nationalisation of the banks in Australia was granted in the High Court yesterday by Mr. Justice Dixon. Applications for the injunction were made by Australian trading banks with London headquarters and the States of Victoria, South Australia and West Australia.

His Honour said he was not prepared to submit the case to the Full Court on the affidavits before him. He directed that the banks and the Commonwealth should file amended affidavits: If these were satisfactory, he would refer the case to the Full Court on January 15. The injunction would operate until the final judgment of the Full Court
