SLAVIN BEATS BROWN
REFEREE STOPS CONTEST (P.A.) NAPIER, Dec. 15. Within five rounds Paddy Slavin, 9.12, Australian lightweight champion, accounted for Billy Brown, 9.7, Invercargill, in a professional lightweight boxing match on Saturday, the referee stopping the fight and awarding the bout to Slavin. Brown took terrific punishment, but was game to the last. He was obviously out on his feet when the bout was stopped.
