BAN ON COMMUNISTS

LABOUR PARTY DECISION STATE INQUIRY URGED(II.4S a.m.) MELBOURNE, Dec. 15. A meeting of 180 presidents and secretaries of Australian Labour Party branches in Victoria has decided to ask the Prime Minister, Mr. T. T. Hollway, to hold an inquiry into the activities of the Communist Party in Australia. It also recommends that the Prime Minister should order an immediate campaign to expose and eradicate “white anting” of the Labour Party by Communists. , , , „ Delegates to the . ..eeting included the former State Premier, Mr. J. Cain, and the organising secretary, Mr. D. Lovegrove. . . By a large majority the meeting decided that the first step in Labour’s rehabilitation in Victoria should be to oust from its ranks all Communists and “undercover Communists.” The purpose of the meeting was to discuss plans for the reorganisation of the party for the coming elections.
