TE ARAROA SHOW
FOOD FOR BRITAIN FLOWERS AND EXHIBITS The Rongomaitapui Hall presented a scene of colour and activity when the successful flower show organised by the Matakaoa Women’s Institute took place. With the object of raising funds in aid of food for Britain, everyone worked with a will and a substantial sum was raised. A successful bring and buy stall was conducted by Mesdames Hyndmarsh and Pearce, while the tea stall was run by Mesdames Godfrey and Hovell and Nurse Banks. Nurse Jamieson, Tikitiki, arranged an interesting exhibit showing a week’s ration for one person in Britain today. Miss Tait, dental nurse, Te Araroa, also arranged a table showing fruit and vegetables valuable in the formation of healthy teeth. A special price for the most outstanding exhibit was won by Mrs Saxby being a low bowl of delicately coloured lilies. . . Prizes for aggregate points in different sections were as follows:—Section A, decorative: Mrs Hindmarsh, 7; Mrs Branson, 5; Mrs Rudland, 5. Section B, cut flowers: Mrs Rudland. 10; Mrs Sharland 7; Mrs Hindmarsh, 7 Section C, vegetables: Jock Taylor, 8; Ada Morkutu, 5; Mrs Sharland, 5; Mrs Branson, 5. Section D, cooking: Mrs Moore 21; Mrs Rudland, 16. Sewing: Mrs Waititi, 10; Mrs Collier, 8
