GIRL GUIDE AFFAIRS (Herald Correspondent.) Mrs. J. S. Nugent, district commissioner, presided over the annual meeting of the Te Karaka Girl Guide Committee held in the Parish Hall on Monday afternoon, Included In those present were committee members. Miss de Cent, who is a visiting Guider from Wellington, and Mrs. T. Mitchell, Brown Owl for the Te Karaka Brownies. An interesting talk on Guide matters, particularly district activities, was given by the commissioner, who also outlined tentative arrangements for the visit of Lady Baden-Powell to Gisborne in January. A satisfactory balance sheet presented by the treasurer was adopted, and Mrs. T. Mitchell submitted her annual report as Brown Owl. A vote of thanks was passed to Mrs. Mitchell and the Brownies for their work during the year, the Brownies' display of handBorlc being greatly admired. Since the departure of Miss Fay Telford In July, the committee has been unable to get anyone to take charge of the Guide Company »nd Miss de Cent offered to fill the vacancy luring her stay in Gisborne.
