EVACUATION PLANS

BRITISH IN PALESTINE

CABINET CONFERENCE

(11 am,) LONDON, Nov. 9. The Chief of the Imperial General Staff, Field Marshal Lord Montgomery, and other service chiefs last night attended an emergency meeting of the Cabinet’s defence committee which discussed future British action in Palestine.

The meeting was held within a few hours of the return of the Colonial Secretary,' Mr. A. Creech-Jones, from the United Nations Assembly in New York.

The Daily Express says that plans were prepared for submission to next Thursday’s full Cabinet. The paper adds that no date has yet been fixed for the beginning of the British withdrawal from Palestine, but Mr. Creech-Jones is believed to have advised the Cabinet that all necessary arrangements should be completed forthwith.
