INDIAN TROOPS ENTER
(11 a.m.) LONDON, Nov. 9. The New Delhi radio announced that Indian troops, without incident, entered Junagadh City on the invitation of the Junagadh Government, The troops comprised a battalion, with a few medium tanks.
The Bombay newspaper announced that the Junagadh Administration surrendered to the Indian Government through an emissary who brought a letter from the Nawab and Premier, Shah Nawaz Bhutto, saying that the situation was out of control in the State which was ready to join India. The letter added that the State’s future Government would be democratic. Indian troops in Kashmir, which cleared Baramula, pushed on another 60 miles to near the village of Uri. The military spokesman, quoted by Reuter’s correspondent in Srinagar, saying that the main rebel columns of resistance have been cleared up tp 20 miles all round Srinagar, although infiltrations might continue.
