POULTRYMEN IRATE
RATIONING IN U.S.
FOWLS SENT TO TRUMAN
WASHINGTON, Nov. 7. Irate poultry farmers today consigned to President Truman and his Food Conservation Committee 13 crates of live chickens in protest against poultryless Thursdays, and it is believed that before their campaign is finished more than 1000 fowls will arrive in Washington. The gist of some telegrams advising the committee of the poultrymen’s action was that the shippers could not afford to sell or continue to feed the chickens with grain, and therefore they were forwarding the chickens to the committee so that it could devise a solution.
Officials arranged for the Salvation Army to intercept the chickens at the railway station, and serve them at an emergency kitchen.
