ADDINGTON TROTS
CONGO SONG’S STAKES
(PA.) CHRISTCHURCH, Nov. 10. The Metropolitan Trotting Club continued its New Zealand Cup meeting at Addington on Saturday in warm weather and before a good attendance. The track was in fast order. _ An objection was lodged against the three placed horses in the New Zealand Derby Stakes, each on separate counts of interference. After hearing the evidence of the five drivers and the patrol stewards it was decided that the judge's placings remain, but that M. Holmes, driver of Congo Song, and D C. Watts, driver of Beckleigh, and F R August, driver of Fortuna, be fined £25 each for careless handling of their horses in incidents which brought about the protests. An appeal has been lodged by each of the drivers. The sum of £151,033 10s was handled on the totalisator, compared with £160.176 10s on the second day last year, which was held on show day.
