SUGAR PRICE RISE
GOVERNMENT’S AIM LONDON, Oct. 17. The Ministry o£ Food claims that the increase ol 2d per lb. in the price oi sugar to domestic consumers, announced yesterday, does not reflect the Government’s attitude to food subsidies. The Ministry says the intention/was to bring prices to domestic and individual consumers closer together to discourage illegal diversion of supplies from one to the other. The price to the industrial consumer is 7d per lb. The new price of the domestic ration is sd:
