HIDES EXPORT LEVY
i KEEPING PRESENT RATE (P.A.) AUCKLAND. Oct. 18. Despite the fact that hide prices had advanced in recent weeks it is not' considered desirable to make any adjustment to the present export levy of lid per lb. for ox and cow hides,' 7d for bulls and 15d for yearlings in the mpan time, according to a statement made here bv Mr. H. G. Andrews, secretary of the New Zealand hides committee The minimum floor price return, based on the ox hide value of 10id f.o.b. as allowed for in the meat export schedule, has given the producers a stabilised return on all classes of hides approximately in line with that received before overseas values altered so rapidly in July, 1946.
