EXCHANGE OF HOUSES
GISBORNE RE-SHUFFLE Furniture removals were the order of the day on Saturday when the occupiers of at least six houses re-shuffled among themselves for the majority to secure possession of houses they owned but were not occupying. With the present acute housing shortage ’ some changes of address normally follow the occupation of a new house, but that was not the case on Saturday. No new house was involved in that re-shuffle. During the past year or so most of the houses within the group affected had changed owners. The legislation had complicated any earlier exchange of houses and in the course of time the numerous households taking part in Saturday’s move became involved. Two State houses were included in the general shift, a man with a family moving from a single unit house to a larger State house to make the former available for another person in the group.
