Standard Sugar Price
In a recent reference to the forthcoming rise in the price of sugar as a result of the removal of the Government subsidy, it was stated that the standard Gisborne price recently has been 4d per lb. The Gisborne Master Grocers’ Association advises that the standard price has been 4Jd per lb., this figure covering extra freight costs incurred by Gisborne traders in securing supplies, it is. understood that the national organisation of master grocers is endeavouring to effect a reductionin freights on sugar.
