An innovation in Orange County, U.S A., is the growing of New Zealand rabbits for meat and fur. The operation is now getting away on a large scale. A modern slaughter-house has been constructed ready for its first run of rabbits. Less than 10 years ago 94 per cent, of the wool produced in South Australia was Merino. The figure fell to 88 per cent bv the 1945-46 season. According to Australian Society of Breeders of British Sheep, flocks other than Merino are increasing steadily.
