MONOPOLY OF STATE?
WORKERS’ COMPENSATION (P.R.) WELLINGTON. Sept. 27. “I would not like either to confirm or deny it,” said the Prime Minister, Mr. P. Fraser, when questioned in the House of Representatives yesterday afternoon by the Leader of the Opposition, Mr. S. G. Holland, on the reported intention of the Government to introduce as one of the provisions of the forthcoming Workers’ Compensation Bill legislation which would result in workers’ compensation becoming a State monopoly. There would be a Workers’ Compensation Bill, said Mr. Fraser, but he was afraid that the question raised by the Leader of the Opposition would have to wait until the bill came before the House.
