Greer Garsoon gives a very wistful and appealing performance as Mary Rafferty, Gregory Peck sustains his reputation ns a strong natural actor, and Lionel Barrymore is notably gripping as the irascrible Rafferty. Another beautiful performance is that of Miss Gladys Cooper as Mrs. Scott, commendable in poise and feeling; while Donald Crisp makes an austere millowner.

King’s.—" Boomerang,” the tense dramatic film at tho King's today. concerns a murder done in daylight, in cold blood. Father Lambert, a highly-respected priest, is shot and killed whilst out for an evening stroll in the small town of Fairport. Others are about when the shot is fired, but there are no very definite clues as to who actually fired the fatal shot. John Waldron, a retired soldier, is arrested on suspicion, and under merciless questioning confesses to the crime. The district attorney, Harvey, does not believe the man to be guilty, despite his confession. Dana Andrews and Jane Wyatt plays the leads. Regent.—Warner Bros.* eloquent new screen drama, “My Reputation,” now being screened at the Regent Theatre, is a hard-hit-ting. highly dramatic account of a widowed mother’s struggle to achieve happiness for herself and her two children in the face of con ventions established by a straight-laced, middle-class society. Starring Barbara Stanwyck and featuring, in other important roles, a host of capable players including George Brent. Warner Anderson, Lucille 'Watson, and Eve Arden, the picture is a piercing study of the tribulations which beset one Jess Drummond (Barbara Stanwyck), who refuses to concede that her life is over when she. is widowed.
