MR. WILLIAM SHARP SPORTING INTERESTS The death of Mr. William Sharp, which occurred on Wednesday after a short illness, came as a shock to many relatives and friends in the district. He was born 63 years ago in Clive, Hawke’s Bay. and was the youngest son of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Sharp, sen., who came to Gisborne when he was still a young boy. Apart from a few years spent in Auckland and Hastings, Mr. Sharp resided here ever since. After retiring from active football he concentrated his interest on cricket, playing a skilful game and being particularly keen as a fieldsman. In later years he had given excellent service to the game as a member of the Cricket Umpires’ Association. Mr. Sharp is survived by his wife, formerly Miss Helen Kinnimont, and two daughters, Mrs. lan Draffin. Napier, and Mrs. A. H. Lane, Wairoa. There is one brother and three sisters of the deceased, and two grandchildren. The interment took place yesterday at the Makaraka cemetery.
