STEEL PLANTS CLOSE
WAGE RISE DEMANDED (11.15 a.in ) NEW YORK', Sept. 5. Demanding wage increases and changes in flic operation of rules, 1800 employees of the United States Steel Corporation and the Union Railroad Company struck today forcing the virtual closing of four plants producing 20,000 tons of steel a day.
