The New’ Zealand Rugby Referees’ Appointment Board has named Mr. J. Fitzpatrick, Wellington, for the Otago v. Southland Ranfurly Shield match, and Mr. J. Froud, Invercargill, for the North v. South match.—P.A. Satisfactory Plunkct Day Appeal Satisfaction with the response of the public to the annual street day appeal organised by the Plunket Society and carried out in Gisborne's business area yesterday by a large number of willing helpers was expressed by members of the committee at the end of the day. Although the full day’s proceeds have not yet been tallied, it is expected that the total will probably exceed last year’s collection, which was a record one. Sellers on the streets met with a ready response throughout the day and there were few' people in town who were not wearing the lapel badge by mid-afternoon. The daffodils and other spring flowers and produce which had been donated to the society also met with a ready sale.
