CHURCH OF CHRIST
CHANGE OF PASTORS MR. MARSHALL LEAVING Alter four and a half years' leadership in the Church of Christ, Gisborne, Pastor R. S. Marshall is to leave shortly to take up a ministry with his church at Richmond. Nelson. He will be succeeded in Gisborne by Pastor Henderson, now of Sydney, who will reach Gisborne in December. Pastor Marshall is the son of a former minister ot the Church of Christ in Gisborne, and as a lad and young man saw much of the educational and working conditions in different parts of New Zealand, principally in the Wanganui and Nelson districts. In and about Nelson he worked as a farmer and in the big orchards, during most aitticult times in the industry, wid his experience there helped materially in fitting him to understand the problems of the working-man.
While still comparatively young Mr. Marshall developed a strong conviction about entering the church, and especially was impressed by the divided condition of the Christian churches. The plea for unity with Christ as head of the church and the Scriptures as the only rule of faith and order, which the Church of Christ accepts, held a strong appeal for his idealism. He has since served in churches in coal-mining and gold-mining districts at Kaitangata and Hokitika, and dur- "■ listry in Gisborne has accomnlished much in the consolidation of a strong youth group as well as for the oider members of his church. Commencing on Sunday he will conduct a two-weeks' evangelistic campaign as the concluding effort of his ministry here, with services each night of the week except Fridays.
