MEMBERSHIP APPEAL

THIRTY-THOUSAND CLUB COMING YEAR’S WORK An appeal to the people of Gisborne to support the club, which is doing a job which r.o other club could do, was made by the president, the Mayor, Mr. N. H. Bull who presided at the annual meeting of the Gisborne Thirty Thousand Club last night. He assured members and intending members that the modest subscription, would be well expended in work which was of value to Gisborne. Commenting on the annual report, Mr. Bull said he knew from personal experience that the booklet, Gisborne-On-Sea, which had been published by the club during the past year, had put Gisborne on the map, as copies had been dispatched to various parts of the world and favourable comment had ' been received

Mr, Bull also congratulated the 1 chairman of the committee, Mr. P. W. Bushnell, the secretary, Mr. B. S. Bree, and the executive for the work they had done.

Various aspects of the work undertaken by the club were mentioned by Mr. Bushnell, who thanked the Mayor for the co-operation which the club had always enjoyed with the Gisborne Borough Council. On the motion of Mr. J. Peach, a recommendation was made to the incoming committee that an organised drive should be made this year for new members.

The election of officers resulted: Patron, Mr. A. J. Cox; president, Mr. N. H. Bull; vice-presidents, Messrs, l). W. Coleman, M.P., F. W. Nolan, and Dr. H. Goulding Rice; general executive. Messrs. P. W. Bushnell, H. Dover, A. J. Cox, H. A. Dear. H. H. DeCosta, H. Gilmer, H. C. Gregory, J. H. Hall, J. Peach, W. M. Jenkins, K. F. Jones, T. Martin, M. J. McArtney F. Mathewson, R. Morse. I J. Quigley, L. E. Strachan, H. M. Proctor, J. A. Thomas and D. A. Wells.

At a committee meeting following the annual meeting Mr. P. W. Bushnell was re-appointed chairman; Mr. B. S. Bree, secretary and treasurer; Mr. R. F. Gambrill, hon. solicitor; and Messrs. Graham and Dobson, hon. auditors; emergency committee, Messrs. P. W. Bushnell, J. H. Hall, A. J. Cox, W. M. Jenkins, H. Gilmer, J. Peach and B. S. Bree.
