COAL FROM U.S.A.

CANCELLATION SOUGHT (P.R.) WELLINGTON, Sept. 4. The importation of coal from the United States was the subject of notice of a question to the Minister of Supply, Mr A. H. Nordnieyer, by Mr M. H. Oram (Oppos. Manawatu). He'asked whether the Minister would advise what quantity of coal had been imported to date and whether in view of the necessity to conserve dollar funds it was proposed to cease importations and to cancel any contracts that might be uncompleted. In a note to the question Mr Oram said it was understood that a vessel had arrived recently at Wellington with coal from the United States.
