AUSTRALIAN SCHEME TRADE UNION APPROVAL MELBOURNE, Sept. 3. By 170 votes to 128 the congress of the Australasian Council of Trade Unions not only approved the nationalisation of banking but urged that the steel and coal industries should also be nationalised, The motion is regarded as a victory for the Left-Wing elements in industrial labour, as many moderates opposed the nationalisation of steel and coal, saying that it would embarrass the Government.
