PRESIDENCY DISCUSSED

ASSEMBLY OF THE U.N. LAKE SUCCESS, Aug. 22. The United Press says that, although the United Nations’ General Assembly session will not begin until September 16, much bickering is already taking place over the selection of the important post of president. Among the dark horse candidates discussed is Sir Carl Berendsen, who has always taken a leading role in United Nations affairs. Leading candidates for the next Assembly, which all delegates agree will test the capacity of the highest calibre statesmen, are Brazil's sharp and polished Senhor Oswaldo Aranha, Australia’s blunt and forthright Dr. H. V. Evatt, and Belgium’s hard-working and capable M. Paul Henri Spaak.
