WIN TO H. 5.0.8. THIRDS

WAIROA CURTAIN-RAISER In a curtain-raiser to the Wairoa juniors v. Te Aute College game at Wairoa on Saturday, the Gisborne H. 5.0.8. thirds defeated a Wairoa third grade fifteen by 21 points to three. The superior combination of the visiting side was the deciding factor in a game which was contested much more evenly than the scores suggest, the home side on several occasions being unlucky in failing to augment their single try. The H. 5.0.8. score was the result of four tries, two of which were converted. Tries were registered by J. Ferris. B. Alley. N. Adcroft. and M. Neal. Conversions were added by Alley, P. Blair and P. Planten.
