JUNIOR REPS. WIN

GISBORNE FIFTEEN WAIKOHU COLTS GAME The Gisborne junior Rugby representatives took a comfortable decision over Waikohu Colts on the Te Karaka grounds on Saturday, the scores being 1G points to six. Though the ground was heavy the weather was fine during the opening stages and the backs of both sides essayed fast attacks with the visitors holding the advantage. Showers of rain subsequently made the ball difficult and the second session was mainly a forward tussle in which the honours were fairly evenly divided. Solid tackling by both teams was a feature of the game.

Tries for the winners were scored by the wings, P. Dods and S. Lunken, the centre, A. Brown, and the break-away forward, A. Turnbull, two being converted by the full-back, B. Whitton. who played an outstanding game. Other prominent backs were the half, P. Thompson and the first five-eighth, J. ChafTey. T. Turnbull, P. Lincoln, G. Davoren and P. Boyle were other notable forwards. R. Greatbatch and J. Charteris scored tries for Colts.
