Mr F. R. Ball, chairman of the P.B. Electric-Power Board, has returned to Gisborne iollowing his attendance at a meeting of the executive committee of tiie Power Boards’ Association in Wellington on Tuesday. Sir Reginald E. Slraaling, chief 'scientific adviser to the Minis ft y o Works in the United Kingdom, is due in New Zealand next month at the invitation of the Government.. It is understood that following his visit, Sir Reginald will turnish a report to the Government on building and building research problems in the Dominion. The Commissioner of Police, Mr. J. Cummings, left New Zealand yesterday to attend a conference ot duelsi of the. Commonwealth of Australia. MrCummings will attend as the repiesentative of the New Zealand police force at the direction of the Prime Minister. Mr C A. Smith, in his capacity as president of the New Zealand Society of Accountants, leaves Gisborne at the end of the week for Hamilton and Auckland He will meet the Hamilton accountants on Monday and is due to address members of the Auckland Junioi Chamber of Commerce on Wednesday. Mr. Smith will address Auckland accountants on Thursday and attend a meeting at Whangarei on r nday. _ln September he will be touring Napiei, Palmerston North, Wanganui and New Plymouth and during the month m October he intends to visit the South Island to complete his itinerary. The impending retirement ot Mr. A. Donald from the directorate ot the Tolaga Bay Co-operative Dairy Company, and his consequential retirement from his post as a director of Co-opcia-:ive Farm Products (Gisborne). Limited, was referred to by Mr. E. H. Baker, chairman oi i.hG latter company, at its meeting on Tuesday Mr Baker stated that Mr. Donald bad given fine service to the co-operative movement, and would be much missed from tne board Mr W. A. Phillips, chairman of the NZ Pig-Marketing Association, also paid a tribute to Mr. Donald's service in the co-operative movement. Mr. Donald stated that he would always remember with pleasure his association with the company, and would treasure the memory that he had been able to plav a small part in establishing it.
