ELECTION OF OFFICERS i LIFE-MEMBERSHIP PLAN { (Herald Correspondent.) c The a'nnual general meeting of the Te j ( Karaka Bowling Club was well attend- 1 cd by members and visitors, including Mr 11. Powell, the club's centre delegate. The president, Mr. H. Buckingham, occupied the chair. ' A review covering the club s activities read bv the secretary, Mr. W. V. R. Luttrell, was received with applause. The treasurer. Mr. S. R. Currie, submitted the balance sheet which showed a credit of £132 8s lOd. This balance will be offset during the coming season bv the cost of installing an adequate water supply tank and the usual maintenance work, and further money will be required to finance the major schemes. , , Is was resolved to raise the subscriptions for first year players from £1 Is to £1 10s and others from £2 2s to £2 10s. Officers elected for the ensuing year w er e-—President. Mr. H. Buckingham (re-elected); vice-president, Mr. \\. Armstrong; secretary, Mr. \\. V. R. Luttrell; treasurer. Mr. S. R. Currie; hon. auditor, Mr. J. G. Appleton; centre delegate. Mr. H. Powell; green superintendent, Mr. H. Lougher; general committee, all officers and Messrs. M. D. Manuel, A. Clayden, P. Clayden, J W. I Wilson, J- Lucas and T. Mitchell, selector and handicapper, Mr. H, I Lougher; games committee, .Messrs, w. V R Luttrell and A. Clayden; umpires, Messrs. H. Buckingham and A. Buckingham; press correspondent, Mr. vv. v. R. Luttrell. , ... The secretary was authorised to airange for a green keeper. On the motion of the secretary it was resolved that all those who had been active members of the club for 21 years should be given life-membership, their names to be inscribed on the honours board. Those qualifying were Messrs. W. Greggan, H. Lougher, A. E. Buckingham and the late Mr. G. F. Bell. Fixtures as recorded in the handbook will be carried out again this season. The date of the official opening was left to the executive. New members nominated were Messrs. F. G. Bellerby H. D Campbell, F. Coleman, S. Corlett, and T. Schol An address on green supervision and care was given by Mr. H. Powell, who was accorded a hearty vote of thanks. On Friday, August 15, bowlers and their wives are to meet at the pavilion to farewell a popular member, Mr. W. Greggan, who is leaving the district. The presentation of trophies will take place at a later date.
