SAVING FOOD COUPONS GOOD LOCAL RESPONSE The economic crisis which has developed in Britain during the past fortnight has made New Zealanders even more determined to do all that is possible to assist the Homeland, and the food for Britain campaign in the Gisborne district last week reflects that desire to aid England. Throughout the Gisborne postal district 38G butter coupons and 15.733 meat coupons, equivalent to £197 Os in cash value, were handed in to the various offices. The fat collection was disappointing. only 21b being received. Gisborne itself dir! v eil in the collection of coupons. 67 butter and 6759 meat coupons being surrendered. The street collection on man'’ a.winno: for a large part of the butter coupons collected. The small townships of Te Araroa and Tokomaru Bay did extremely well 102 butter and 2682 meat coupons bein” cancelled at the former and lot butter and 892 meat coupons surrendered at the latter township. Inutiki. with 4012 meat coupons, did well. Several schools also assisted in the collection of meat coupons, these being Opotiki High. 463: Ormond. 443; Awapuni, 73: and Te Hapara, 600. Coupons surrendered during tne week ending August 9 wore:— Butter Meat
