“A FATALIST”
COUNT CARLO SFORZA, the Foreign Minister of Italy, who is preparing to go to London on a goodwill visit to mark Italy’s “return to the comity.” Count Sforza was once in danger of never returning to Italy. He was flying from Britain to North Africa just after Italy was accepted as a co-belligerent, and after he had seen Mr. Churchill and Mr. Eden, Count Sforza’s plane caught fire just after leaving Cornwall. A hole began to burn in the fuselage and the plane reached the airfield just In time. Count Sforza, with a shrug and a laugh, said: “At my age, one learns to be a fatalist.”
