KAITI DRAINAGE APPROACH TO COUNCIL RESIDENTS’ REQUEST ‘‘As far as the drainage is concerned, that is a pretty big problem,” said the Mayor, Mr. N. H. Bull, at last night's meeting of the Gisborne Borough Council, when a letter from the Kaiti Residents’ Progressive Association was received asking the council to receive a deputation representing the association and the Kaiti School Committee.
The proposal was to discuss an extension of the Wainui road footway, the removal of a pedestrian crossing to a point near the Kaiti School gateway, the establishment of a new school bus stop, and also the question of drainage in the outer Kaiti area.
The council agreed that the deputation could be met by the roads and drainage committee of the council. The engineer, Mr. G. M. Beaumont, was given the council’s leave to attend and address a meeting of the Kaiti Residents’ Association next month, and discuss drainage in its general aspects.
