LONDON, Aug. 8. The results of English county cricket matches are: —

Derby: First innings, 223 (Townsend 86, Bailey 5 for 83). Second innings, 304 (Elliott 68. Bailey 5 for 92). Essex: First innings, 417 (Vigar not out 114, P. Smith 163); second innings, 5 for 114. Essex won by five wickets. Hampshire: First innings, 186 (Rogers 70, Laker 8 for 69); second innings, 4 for 394 declared (Rogers 178. McCorkell not out 92). Surrey: First innings, 136 (.Herman 5 for 47); second innings, 350 (Fishlock 126). Hampshire won by 94 runs.

Kent:; First innings, 8 for 423 declared (Fagg 184); second innings, 6 for 181 (Young 4 for 26). Middlesex: First innings 225 (Compton 106, Wright 7 for 87) followed on, 8 for 429 declared (Robertson 140, Edrich 130). The match was drawn.

Gloucester: First innings, 415 (Crapp 131); second innings, 106 (Cranton 5 for 48 > Lancashire: First innings, 341 (Ikin 62); second innings, none for 183 (Washbrook not out 107, Place not out 73). Lancashire won by 10 wickets. Yorkshire" First innings. 9 for 541 declared (Hutton 137. Smithson 169, Yard ley 100). Leicester:: First innings, 344, foilowed’on 193. Yorkshire won by an innings and four runs.

Somerset: First innings. 437 (Gimblett 118, Walford 96): second innings, one for 103. Notts: First innings, five for 585 declared (Keeton 113, Simpson 90. Hardstaff not out 200). The match was drawn.

Worcester: First innings, 170 (Muncer five for 17); second innings, 349 (Palmer 124, Davies four for 41). Glamorgan: First innings, nine for 373 declared (Davies 177); second- innings, 132 i Howorth. six for 45). Worcester won by 14 runs.
