BADMINTON DRAW

TOKOMARU PLAY TE PUIA TEAM'S VISIT (Herald Correnpondent.) In a keen badminton match at Tokomaru Bay on Thursday evening the home team drew with a visiting team from Te Puia. Until the la&t game the result was in doubt. At “'that stage Tokomaru Bay had won six matches to their guests’ five. Te Puia won the last game to make the score six-all. The visitors won all three ladies’ doubles and the home team all three men’s doubles, the mixed games being halved. Supper was served during a pause in the play and the Tokomaru vice-president, Mr. S. Lyle-Smythe. welcomed the club’s guests and hoped the clubs would have many more matches together. On behalf of Te Puia Mr. J. Colbert thanked Tokomaru Bay for the pleasant evening. Results were as follow, Te Puia being mentioned first in each case: Men’s Doubles: J. Colbert and S. Goldsmith lost to S. Lyle-Smythe and W. J. Oates, 16 —21; C. Goldsmith and L. Salt lost to D. V. Forrester and L. Kennedy, 8—21; H. Chalmers and B. Tamepo lost to W. Thompson and E. Wheeler, 18—21. Ladies’ Doubles: Miss B. Beavon and Miss M. Jago d. Mrs. E. J. Knox and C. Cunningham,22B; Miss N. Beavon and Miss T. Harrison d. Miss P. Wilkins and Miss J. Oates. 229:1 —9: Mrs. Smith and Miss B. Tamepo d. Miss Allardice and Miss L. McKee, 21—3. Mixed Doubles: Colbert and Miss Jago d. Lyle-Smythe and Miss Wilkins, 21 —17: S. Goldsmith and Miss B.
