AUSTRALIAN NAVY USE OF TWO CARRIERS AIRMEN TO BE TRAINED (1.30 p.m.) SYDNEY, July 4. Preliminary plans have been made to give Australia her own Fleet Air Arm. Initially, 1000 volunteers will be sought in Australia, increasing to 2000 ns Australia’s defence programme expands. The keels of two aircraft carriers similar to the Glory have been laid in England for Australia and the ships are expected to be delivered in two to three years.
