The international trade conference resumed work on the charier after an exchange of views on the Belgian statement, which said that so many amendments were being offered that toe conference was losing sight of the original aim— liberalising trade. 3 M. Pierre Forthornme, Belgium, saio there was a mortal danger that the nations would fail to come togetnei. Mr. Claire Wilcox, United States, said that some amendments would destroy the whole edifice they were. Lying to build. There should be a practical balance between semi-individuals ana collectivist economics and the interests of developed and non-dcvelopcd countries.
