FREEDOM DEMANDED

STATUS OF MOROCCO KRIM WARNS FRENCH (11.45 a.m.) PARIS. June 22. Abd-el-Krim, the former Riff leader, who took refuge in Egypt on May 31 while on his way to France after 21 years’ exile, declared in an interview reported in the French newspaper Figaro that the French protectorate in Morocco must be cancelled. "What happened in Syria should be a lesson. France made grave mistakes in Syria and had to leave in unpleasant circumstances and is about to make the same mistakes in North Africa with the same results,” he said He accused the French of occupying Morocco as the Germans had occupied France. Abd-el Krim, replying to a question whether he envisaged taking up arms against France said: “God knows, and God will be on our side.”
