SALE OF WOOL

NEW AUCKLAND SYSTEM

A new system, for disposing of the season's wool clip is expected to be introduced in Auckland next year and will result in a reduced number of sa^es. The January and Ap il auctions, which generally comprise the bigg st offerings will be amalgamated, anj the total of about 40 000 bales will be disposed of in two sections. It is proposed to value and offer 20000 bales, and after a few days value and offer the rest. In the past the praet ce has been to deal with the whole catalogue in one day. The proposed system has been advocated by small buyers for a number of years. They maintain that it will enable them to assess the paces at the initial offering and. during the interval, to contact their principals and adjust their bids when the sale resumes. Brokers claim that the change w.ll allow the wool to be cleared more quickly and will reduce the strain on all concerned wilh the auction.
