Rats Breed Rapidly Statisticians in the United States have figured out that at the maximum multiplication rate of rats the progeny of one pair might exceed 350,000,000 in three years. This ignores the death rate. When it comes to fecundity, rats can hold their own with rabbits and guinea pigs. Rats begin to breed at three or four months of age. Their gestation period is 21 to 25 days and litters may vary in size from six to 22. Immediate steps should lie taken to eliminate any rats on Hie farm for they can not only do considerable . damage but will also spread disease.
