“The necess. y of ensuring that adequate supplies of spare parts for agricultural implements are available is fully appreciated and consideration would be given to applications from regular importers for licenses for amounts in excess of those to which the applicants would be entitled on the basis of their 1938 imports on similar goods,” stated the controller of customs in a letter to the Gisborne MaizeGrowers’ Association answering the association’s request for information on the availability of spare parts for farm machinery.
