WAR MEMORIAL PROJECTS £160,000 TO BE SPENT CANBERRA, April 30. Australian war memorials costing a total of £160,000 dedicated to the men and women who died or served in the Second World War will be erected by the Federal Government in Canberra, Darwin, Port Moresby and London. Canberra will have a carillon of bells. In Darwin a memorial within a civic centre will hear a record of battle honours and events in the war against Japan. Port Moresby is to have a prominent structure visible from land, sea, and air and surmounted by a light to represent tHe “eternal flame.” A monument will be erected in London near Australia House.
