Board matters by our local representative on the board, Mr. H. Bayly, and I | feel that we have again to thank him ! Xor having done an excellent job .on our behalf. The rabbit menace in the Wairoa County is a very serious matter and I am glad to note that so many members of the farming community have at last realised the danger. The board, 1 think, is doing the best possible job with the man-power available, this being a serious limiting factor. I ask the farming community generally to assist the board not only bv becoming rabbiters themselves on their own property, but to co-operate freely with the board's employees and supply them with paddocking accommodation, and dog meat.’ H.B.L.R.C. Whakaki Lagoon Opened In order to prevent flooding of the lowlands at Whakiki the lagoon there has been opened by Wairoa County Council’s bull-dozers. This will mean much to shooters during the coming season, resulting in much better "bags” as the lagoon was exceptionally high and causing the settlers some anxiety. From a sportsman’s point of view the .Whakaki area is very strongly stocked at present and,' given reasonable conditions, there should be a large number of limit bags on Saturday, when the season opens. Members of the Wairoa County Council waited on the Minister for Agriculture, Mr. E. L.
