POWER FOR TAUPO

BOARD GRANTED LICENSE When a deputation from the Taupo Town Board, led by the chairman, Dr. S. Armstrong, waited on Mr. F. T. M. Kis£el at Taupo last week, i.t was informed that the Cabinet had agreed to grant a license to the board for its Hinemaia (Hatepe) Stream scheme for a hydro-electric and water supply for Taupo. The proposed site of the works is 11J miles from Taupo. It is estimated that the capital expenditure will be £78,000 to provide power to approximately 500 consumers. The cost of the water supply scheme is estimated at £37,000. Immediately confirmation of the granting of the license is received the board proposes io commence work.
