BEACH MAY BE CLOSED

NORFOLK COAST MINES REMOVAL TOO RISKY (10 a.m.) LONDON, May 23. Three miles of Norfolk's beaches, between Sidestrand and Mundesley, may have to be closed permanently, said the Secretary of War. Mr. F. J. Bellenger, in the House of Commons. Over 1000 land mines were still in the cliffs there and it would be highly dangerous to remove them. “I shall have a duty to tire public,” Mr. Bellenger added, “but I certainly will not risk the lives of soldiers unnecessarily to remove the mines.”
