SMALLPOX IN NEW YORK
TWO FURTHER CASES RUSH FOR VACCINATION (10 a.m.) NEW YORK, April 15. Two additional cases of smallpox were reported yesterday, bringing the total to nine suspected and definite cases in New York City since the first case was reported in. March. The number of deaths remains at two—the first in New York since 1912. • The only other cases reported in New York State are four in the village of Millbrook. The New York City Health Department. whose clinics are crowded with vaccination applicants, has borrowed 500.000 units of vaccine from the navy, which has ordered its personnel in the East to be re-vaccinated. The New Y'ork Health Commissioner held a press conference yesterday and concluded by vaccinating the reporters. On the advice of the New York City Health Department the United Nations yesterday began vaccinating in its health clinic delegates and their families and members of the staff. The procedure is on i voluntary basis.
