CURB COMMUNISM

ADVICE TO JAPAN

UNITED STATES POLICY

RESISTANCE EVERYWHERE

TOKYO, March 25,

In a statement to .the Japanese people Dr. Pieter Roest, chief of the political affairs division of General D. MacArthur's headquarters declared that the United States will oppose Communist aggression "anywhere in the world.” He told the Japanese voters that they must be alert in the April elections to guard against fifth columns. Dr. Roest warned the Japanese against following any group promising direct rule in place of Parliamentary representation. Otherwise, they were likely to find themselves under a worse dictatorship than in the past. Japan must uphold democracy and fight everything which would lead her back to the bondage of dictatorship, whether it be war-making, big business combines, military cliques or the “proletariat.’’
