AUCKLAND WOOL
BUYERS TAKE: HALF
REST TO COMMISSION
(P.A.) AUCKLAND. March 25. “The fourth Auckland wool sale was held yesterday when 25,929 bales of new season's greasy. 1352 bales of new season’s slipe, and 384 bales of scoured wool were offered.’' states the official report of the Auckland Wool'orokers' Association.
“Of the total clearance approximately 50 per cent was taken by the buyers, the balance being taken over by the Wool Disposal Commission at floor reserves.
“The offerings of new season's greasy wool consisted mainly of ewe and wether wool with an average percentage of bellies, pieces and lambs' wool. “The wool offered at this sale, with the exception of a few lines, was principally ordinary style wools, the majority carrying a fair quantity of skirtings. It was particularly noticeable that fine, bright and well-skirted clips attracted keen attention from buyers, but unskirted and shabby wools lacked competition and the major quantity of these wools was taken over by the Wool Disposal Commission at floor reserves. "Continental buyers dominated the market for bellies and pieces. Local mills were in strong support for wools to suit their requirements. The competition for lambs’wool was particularly keen and evenly spread. Slipe wools met with keen competition from Bradford, America and Continental buyers.“ The following is the official range of prices:—
